For most kids in this age group, they only have a few years to enjoy the great game of baseball. Once high school comes around, the sport changes to something far more serious and selective. Most players either don't make the team, lose interest in riding the bench or get diverted to other priorities. Get your son started pitching now so that he more fully enjoys the sport in these early days because they go by so quickly. When he gets to high school, he will have a much higher probability of making the team and continuing in growth as a proven, experienced, baseball pitcher.

My structured approach helps young pitchers develop mentally, physically, and strategically, setting them up for long-term growth and success in youth baseball through high school and even college.
S: Self-Confidence
Building mental intent and focus to develop the right positive mindset.
T: Throwing Mechanics and Safety
Ensuring the arm gets into the correct position to protect the elbow and shoulder.
A: Action
Encouraging proper body movement and rotation so the arm isn’t doing all the work.
R: Repetition
Establishing a consistent routine that builds muscle memory and confidence.
P: Pitching-in-Game Management
Applying skills in managing the at-bat, fielding hits and getting the out at home plate during steals and past pitches with strategy and poise.

To be honest, I had terrible coaches when I was in youth baseball. They had no idea how to coach so my skills development suffered. When my son got the interest to play, I started coaching to assure he (and the rest of his team) would have positive experiences with baseball. Specific to pitching, I love watching beginner pitchers transform into competent and confident pitchers, like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. When it happens, your son will feel like he can do anything in life and he'll remember his pitching experiences forever. That's why I do it. I'm providing a vehicle for young boys to grow into confident and driven young men.
There are three main things I do differently than just about any pitching coach I've known:
1. I attend your son's games when my calendar allows and distance permits. It helps me do a better job of coaching my pitching students in practices when I can see them pitch live in their games.
2. I bring everything needed for the sessions and we always pitch on an actual baseball field. Pitching balls, pitching rubber, home plate, special zone net for pitching where a catcher is not needed. Just bring your son's glove and cleats.
3. I don't yell because I get all the performance and focus I need from my pitching students without raising my voice.
Many baseball pitching coaches offer only 30-minute sessions and charge $50. My sessions are one hour so that we have plenty of time for warmups, explanations, video review, and of course a pitching workout. One payment of the price options provided and you can bring up to two additional pitchers. Catchers can participate at no additional charge. If he goes through his baseball career relying on coaches not qualified to teach pitching, can you imagine the potential loss your son will have to endure? How do you even monetize that type of cost? If I charged $1,000 per session, it would still be worth it. But, I don't need to charge that. I just need to charge enough so that you and your son are fully committed to fast progress and so that I can provide enough game quality baseballs, nets, home plates, and other supplies.
Yes, a parent or guardian must be within eye sight of our session. You are welcome to sit in your car, in the dugout or bring your own chair to watch. If you have some baseball (or softball) experience, you are welcome to perform the catchers role instead of my using a net.
You don't get these years back! I highly encourage any parent to be present and participate in the pitching sessions by serving as catcher or ball retriever. The drills we do in the session need to be practiced outside of our pitching sessions. Your participation is very helpful and encouraged so that you can assist with those drills. A sibling is welcome to catch as well, such as an older brother in baseball, provided that horseplay does not result.
I am a speaker, author and CEO of a business growth company called
Here Next Year, LLC, which I started in 1996. I run two international virtual events; Speakers Speak LIVE for professional speakers and Achieve Speakers LIVE for topic experts to expand their awareness around the world. Originally born in Oak Park, IL, I grew up in upstate NY, CT, PA and moved here to Aurora, CO, for the downhill skiing. My wife and I just celebrated our 37th anniversary together. We have an adult son who pitched in high school until he started baseball umpiring, which helped him pay his way through college. He now works and lives on his own in downtown Denver. We have an adult daughter, for whom I also served as head coach throughout her softball days.

"Working with Coach Marty has been an incredible experience for my 10-year-old. He is patient, knowledgable, and truly passionate about teaching pitching. He has a way of breaking things down so that young players not only understand the mechanics but also gain the confidence to trust themselves on the mound. Since starting with him, my son's skills have grown tremendously, but even more importantly, his love for pitching has taken off. Coach Marty has sparked a fire in him to work hard, improve, and enjoy the game. We are so grateful for the positive impact he's had both on and off the field."

"Coach Marty began working with our son when he was just eight, at a time when attention was a real struggle. From the first session, Coach Marty’s understanding and patience made all the difference—he adapted his approach to fit our son's learning style. Over the years, Coach Marty has built trust through encouragement and clear, step-by-step teaching, making practice fun and focused. Today, our son is starting pitcher for his team. Coach Marty truly knows how to tap into a young player’s potential, helping them overcome obstacles and believe in themselves."
